The ELÜSS Key Case is a compact, practical, and elegant solution to solve the problems associated with traditional key rings. This product was designed, manufactured in 25 copies, and marketed in only 5 weeks by a team of 3 designers.

Context

This project was realized within the context of the HEC sale at the University of Montreal. This event consists of a one-day Christmas sale where industrial design students put on sale a limited quantity of a product they have designed.
The products designed had to relate to a problem of everyday life. The ELÜSS team decided to reinvent the key ring to make it more ergonomic and aesthetically pleasing. Through numerous iterations and prototypes, the team developed the ELÜSS key case.

Manufacturing

The ELÜSS key cases are made of 6061 aluminum. Its parts have been laser cut and anodized to give them a "hard coat" finish that provides both advanced corrosion-resistance and durability. The finishing, the assembly, and the packaging of the product were done by-hand by the design team. In order to maximize ease of use and portablity in one's pocket, the case was made to fit the same surface dimensions as a credit card.

Sale

The product was a great success at the HEC sale. All products sold out within the first 10 minutes of the event. In addition, the team received many positive comments from happy customers after a few weeks of use. The ELÜSS key case was also featured in LaPresse newspaper.
